I've been reading the Septuagint with Apocrypha. The books of Maccabees seems to be the source of the bogus Jew holiday Hannukah. Now, the Septuagint was translated in 300 - 200 BC but 1 Maccabees was written in 1 BC - one year after Idumea was consumed in 2 BC. Maccabees could be a corrupt book written by Tamudic Jews of the time? or perhaps it was usurped and corrupted later to fit their designs? What is known about these books? Are they credible, since they were written after the fall of Idumea and the corruption of the Laws of God by the Edomites that were allowed to co-exist with the Judahites at that time?
